Overview
The Communications and Special Projects Intern will manage and expand Vocal Justice’s communications strategy, while also working closely with Vocal Justice staff to execute additional strategic initiatives. We are looking for someone who can creatively use our platforms to engage and build community with youth, teachers, supporters, and peer organizations. In addition to managing our social media platforms, the intern will work closely with the Vocal Justice team to support the development of our strategic plan and annual report and the execution of our inaugural Youth Leadership Summit. Beyond the tasks described here, the role is flexible and can evolve based on the intern's interests and the organization's needs.
Key Responsibilities
Communications (60%)
- Create and maintain our social media calendar on all platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and Facebook) and schedule content on Buffer.
- Create 3-5 posts each week in the form of graphics, short videos, and other engaging media that align with Vocal Justice's brand, values, and messaging.
- Coordinate with youth and educators to share their original content on our platforms.
- Monitor all platforms; assess and report on communications strategies.
- Catalogue youth and teacher testimony, impact data, and youth work for use in communications and fundraising campaigns.
- Draft monthly newsletters for youth and supporters.
- Create promotional materials for different audiences (school staff, youth, teachers, parents, potential partners, etc.)
- Support the design and maintenance of Vocal Justice’s website.
Special Projects (40%)
- Draft and design Vocal Justice’s 2021-2022 Annual Report with the support of the Special Projects Manager.
- Support Vocal Justice staff and Youth Advisory Council to execute our online Youth Leadership Summit.
