Overview
The Growth Strategy Intern will help Vocal Justice build its earned revenue strategy so that we can be financially sustainable in the long term. We are looking for someone with strong business acumen who can help us identify our core cost drivers, determine how much to charge each school / school district for our services, and brainstorm other sources of earned revenue. This intern will also help the CEO secure philanthropic donations to cover organizational expenses until we can start securing earned revenue.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Customer Discovery (30%)
- Interview 15-20 potential school customers, including principals and school district staff, about their ability and appetite to pay for programming similar to what Vocal Justice offers.
- Brainstorm other sources of earned revenue beyond school contracts, and conduct research (e.g., more customer interviews, online research) to understand those market opportunities.
- Compile key insights from interviews and other research, and build customer personas.
Conduct Financial Analysis (30%)
- Review past and anticipated expenses for Vocal Justice, and summarize our main cost drivers for the next three years.
- Analyze budgets of potential customers to gauge potential revenue we can secure.
- Build a financial model that provides a conservative, realistic, and idealistic projection of Vocal Justice costs and revenue for the next three years.
Develop Revenue Strategy (25%)
- Create a pricing strategy that outlines how much Vocal Justice should charge each potential customer for our services, while prioritizing equity and inclusion.
- Prepare a presentation on which schools / districts / other organizations Vocal Justice should sell to in the next three years, taking into account customer discovery and financial analysis.
